Very short articles[edit source]

Hi, Arlen. For a long time (I'm alone here since almost a year and I don't speak the language...) I'm thinking about moving articles that have no content except interwikis and a picture (like ᐃᕐᒥᒡᕕᒃ/irmigvik - and there are quite a lot of them) to the Inuktitut Wiktionary (wikt:iu:ᐊᒥᖅ). I can import these articles there, so that the revision history would not get lost. What do you think? --Thogo (ᐊᓪᓚᖁᑎᒃᑲ) 23:11, 9 ᔪᓂ 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Thogo -- I think, why not? This Wikipedia isn't really much of an "encyclopaedia" yet, unfortunately - if it were, I suppose, it'd have more encyclopaedic content.. at any rate, the content we do have here is dictionary-like, so if you could import them, that'd be much more useful! I can't wait until I can start to contribute to this myself.. if you don't mind my asking, how is it you came to live there? I'd definitely like to someday. :) ᐋᕐᓓᓐ 10:47, 10 ᔪᓂ 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, in 2006 this wiki was absolutely dead (it had 10 articles or such and no active users), there were two bureaucrats (they are still in the list), neither of them was active anymore and there was a lot of vandalism by spambots at that time. I was one of a few people who regularly looked into small wikis and cleaned up there, what later became the SWMT project. Therefore I got temporary sysopship here, deleted all the crappy pages created by the vandals and found that it might be worth notifying one of the bureaucrats to better care about the wiki. So I wrote him on frwiki where he was still active at that time and he made me sysop and told me that he has no time to work here anymore. That's it. And since then I'm looking after the wiki. Meanwhile there was an advanced learner of the language here who wrote most of the existing articles (those which contain text) and started translating some parts of the software (as you can see if you have your language set to Inuktitut) but he disappeared a year ago. :( I usually "live" on Meta and the German projects, but once a day I look into the recent changes here and do the necessary administrative works, like welcoming new users, removing vandalism (although there is not much of it anymore, luckily) and such. But concerning the short articles, I'll get to them in a few days. --Thogo (ᐊᓪᓚᖁᑎᒃᑲ) 18:53, 10 ᔪᓂ 2009 (UTC)[reply]
