Keyboard[edit source]

Hi,

I'd love to make a keyboard layout for this language so it would be easier for everybody to type in it. Do you know anybody who speaks the language and can explain me how to make one? I just need to know which keys to map to which characters.

Thanks! --Amire80 (talk) 15:45, 31 ᔪᓚᐃ 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Syllabic keyboard layouts (the ones I know of anyway) are not usually map with a key for a character. Each "character" in Inuktitut is a syllable, so for example, by pressing the keys "j" and then "a", it would show the "character" for "ja" syllable. I'm not sure if it helps you or not. To answer your question, there are no Inuktitut speakers currently contributing to the Wikipedia and I don't know of any. However, I know Eastern Cree speakers that use the same syllabic. Amqui (talk) 16:50, 31 ᔪᓚᐃ 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Anybody who uses any keyboard in this writing system would be great to speak to. --Amire80 (talk) 20:16, 31 ᔪᓚᐃ 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Try [1], [2], [3], google:Canadian Syllabics Keyboard, etc. PiRSquared17 (talk) 01:30, 7 ᐊᐅᒍᔅ 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your administrator status on iu.wikipedia[edit source]

Hello. A policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc.) was adopted by community consensus in 2013. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.

You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for 2 years) on the wiki listed above. Since that wiki does not have its own rights review process, the global one applies.

If you want to keep your rights, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights.

If you wish to resign your rights, you can reply here or request removal of your rights on Meta.

If there is no response at all after approximately one month, stewards will proceed to remove your administrator and/or bureaucrat rights. In ambiguous cases, stewards will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact the stewards. Hello Rschen7754, my personal opinion is to keep Amqui around as Sysop. He is working on Canadian aboriginal projects for years and now that he's on the WMCA Board since September, he will be internally involved within Canadian First Nations projects. So my advice, is to have him aboard as Sysop on WP-iu. Best regards. Benoit Rochon (talk) 00:10, 14 ᔪᓂ 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request for pop-up on this wiki[edit source]

On the Māori, Tahitian, Tok Pisin, Nauruan and Hawaiian Wikipedias, they have a pop-up that reads Do you speak [language name]? Help us revive the [language] Wikipedia! See [page] to discuss the future of this project. A "dismiss" button appears in the top right hand corner of the pop-up too. I was wondering if you could add this pop-up to this Wikipedia (I asked because you're an admin). The pop-up is in English (because most people who speak the languages listed above and most people who speak Inuktitut speak English too). The pop-up on this Wikipedia should say this: Can you speak Inuktitut? Help us revive the Inuktitut Wikipedia! See ᐅᐃᑭᐱᑎᐊ:ᐹᕐᓂᖅ to discuss the future of this project. The page I linked should be like a talking place (see mi:Wikipedia:Kōrero or tpi:Wikipedia:Haus bilong toktok) Thanks.

Hello, I think this should be discussed here ᐅᐃᑭᐱᑎᐊ talk:ᖃᒡᒋᖅ. Amqui (talk) 00:42, 17 ᐊᐅᒍᔅ 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How we will see unregistered users[edit source]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Your advanced permissions on iuwiki[edit source]

Hello. A policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, interface administrator, etc.) was adopted by community consensus in 2013. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing activity on wikis with no inactivity policy.

You meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no logged actions for 2 years) on this wiki. Since this wiki, to the best of our knowledge, does not have its own rights review process, the global one applies.

If you want to keep your advanced permissions, you should inform the community of the wiki about the fact that the stewards have sent you this information about your inactivity. A community notice about this process has been also posted on the local Village Pump of this wiki. If the community has a discussion about it and then wants you to keep your rights, please contact the stewards at the m:Stewards' noticeboard, and link to the discussion of the local community, where they express their wish to continue to maintain the rights.

If you wish to resign your rights, please request removal of your rights on Meta.

If there is no response at all after one month, stewards will proceed to remove your administrator and/or bureaucrat rights. In ambiguous cases, stewards will evaluate the responses and will refer a decision back to the local community for their comment and review. If you have any questions, please contact the stewards.
